MIDDLEBURY, Ind. – The Elkhart County Parks Department hosted the grand opening for the 85-acre Corson Riverwoods County Park on Wednesday, June 24, according to The Elkhart Truth.
The park was built on land donated by Tom Corson, founder of Coachmen Industries, on the north side of Middlebury. He died in 2019 at 92 but was able to give some input into the development of the park.
“Mr. Corson had part of it classified as forest already, so we knew that the environment was important to him,” said Director of Elkhart County Parks Ronda DeCaire. “He was a builder of RVs – he knew that connecting people to the outdoors was important because those are the future RV buyers of the world.”
