Local and state leaders (in Kentucky) gathered Monday (April 13) to take a look at the new additions to Elk View Campground, for the opening of a facility officials say will attract visitors from across the country, according to WYMT.
The nearly $4.5 million project will offer 13 cabins, a general store, a bathhouse and RV parking for visitors. Overnight parking for an RV is set for $40 a night. Officials say pricing for cabins is still in the works.
Judge-Executive Jeff Noble says the first three cabins are expected to be completed within a matter of weeks.
The goal with properties like the campground is to revitalize abandoned sites, giving them new purpose while boosting the local economy.
