An RV campground in Antrim County (Mich.) played a key role in helping high school sweethearts start up a food truck, which led to opening up a donut shop and then buying the campground where it all started, according to upnorthlive.com.
Ariel and Dylan Johnson said they sold their dream home back in 2020.
The Johnsons wanted to ditch the nine-to-five grind and focus on family. That’s when the Mitten Licken donut trailer opened at the Antrim Meadows Campground in Mancelona.
“We just kind of gave it a shot,” said Ariel. “We weren’t sure how it was going to go. Especially in the middle of Northern Michigan Winter. It took off amazingly, and our food truck did great for a couple of years. We’ve opened a donut shop downtown in Mancelona, and then we were given the opportunity to buy the place, and we couldn’t pass it up. You know, as we began our journey with Mitten Licken here.”
The RV campsite is around five acres and has 24 sites and two cabins.
