A proposed eight-acre RV park near Helmville (Mont.) is the impetus for a new nonprofit in the area. The North Powell County Preservation Association was recently formed by several local residents. According to the new nonprofit, the development of this RV park is a significant threat to the rural and agricultural use of the Blackfoot Valley, according to the Pathfinder.
Recognizing that a lot of land is changing hands, the nonprofit expects additional concerns in the future, said Bryan Von Lossberg, North Powell County Preservation Association president.
“The diverse group of people was drawn together by their love of the land, the area, the creek and dark skies and is collectively lending their time and expertise to the specific issue of the proposed RV park,” Von Lossberg said.
The proposed RV park location is a strip of land lying between Highway 141 and Nevada Creek, below the Nevada Creek Reservoir, between mile markers 22 and 23, with the entrance near Ogden Mountain Road.
The proposed park would consist of eight acres of approximately 36 padded, full-hook-up RV sites, seven cabins, one convenience store, and one manager’s apartment, according to the Conditional Use Permit.
