With a huge focus on artificial intelligence (AI) over the past year, it is no surprise that OHI’s Outdoor Hospitality Conference and Expo (OHCE) in Louisville, Ky., would feature a few sessions on the topic.
One of those sessions was held on Monday (Nov. 10) by Nicolas Gramstad, Courtny Mauldin and Vlad Dzhidzhiyeshvili, from Staylist.
It focused on the evolution of the technology and how software systems are developing AI tools to make the life of a park owner/operator easier.
“We are moving into the command era,” noted Vlad. “We are near the point where we can tell AI info and avoid having to go through multiple steps to accomplish something.”
However, the panel noted that companies and individuals can’t just blindly use AI without ensuring that it is accurate. Inaccuracies hurt AI, and it is important to build confidence in AI tools by making sure it is pulling from valid information sources, highlighted the panel.
“Putting guardrails in place to prevent AI hallucinations is key,” Vlad explained. “You have to make sure that the results have a verifiable report that is attached to it, so that the information it produces is accurate.”
Vlad also highlighted the fact that AI is moving beyond just chatting, but is actually performing tasks.
“Eventually, campers will be able to reserve a site and pay for it with the proper auditing trails and compliance networks in place,” he said.
Vlad highlighted that AI isn’t replacing reports, but is instead extending them into action, and that the future of hospitality isn’t just about dashboards.
“It is about decision-making that happens at the speed of conversation,” he explained.
