EDITOR’S NOTE: The following information came from OHI and its partners at the Merchant Payments Coalition.
OHI has been fighting hard for your business in DC to get credit card processing fees under control. Meanwhile, the credit card companies are trying to fight against your business. There is a lawsuit currently being considered that is NOT favorable to your business, so OHI, along with our partners at Merchant Payments Coalition, is objecting to it.
The judge’s decision to allow the proposed Visa and Mastercard settlement to move forward was based, in part, on the belief that businesses supported the deal. We need to make clear that many small businesses do not.
The proposed settlement simply does not provide meaningful enough relief for businesses that accept credit cards, and once approved, your business could potentially be stuck with an inadequate deal for years.
By entering your information by Sept. 1, we will add your business to our letter to the District Court Judge asserting your business’s objection to the final approval of the MDL-1720 proposed settlement. The text of the proposed settlement is here. The full objection letter can be seen here.
