Editor’s Note: The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) sent out this email to its members in the hopes of collecting property tax data from parks to present to Governor Abbott’s office.

Thanks to a recent survey of membership and meeting attendees, the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) has identified lower commercial property taxes as the top issue in the next legislative session.

To that end, the TACO legislative team is already hard at work. Recently, TACO met exclusively with Governor Abbott’s office to explain the challenges Texas RV parks and campgrounds have had in recent years with skyrocketing increases to their commercial property tax bill.

They were sympathetic but asked for our help. Governor Abbott needs data from real Texas RV parks and campgrounds to illustrate just how dramatic an increase we’ve seen. They’re going to use this data to campaign for lowering those commercial property taxes in any way they can.

Click here if you’re willing to share just how much your taxes have increased over the years. The data will be kept private and not shared with anyone else.

Based in Crowley, the Texas Association of Campground Owners represents education and legislative support for park operators throughout the Lone Star State, in addition to marketing Texas campgrounds, RV parks and resorts to consumers.

For more information, visit www.tacomembers.com as well as the association’s consumer websites at www.texascampgrounds.com and www.texasglampingresorts.com.
