The Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO) is urging camping enthusiasts to make their campsite and cabin reservations now for Labor Day weekend, according to a press release.
“The best campsites and cabins always go to those who plan ahead and make their reservations early, which is why we always encourage people to book their reservations early,” said Brian Schaeffer, TACO’s executive director and CEO.

TACO hosts several travel planning websites, including TexasCampgrounds.com, TexasCabinRentals.net and TexasGlampingResorts.com, which are designed to help consumers find the best camping experiences near their intended vacation destinations.
Here’s a sampling of campgrounds across Texas that have vacancies over Labor Day weekend:
Jamaica Beach RV Resort in Galveston: This park complements its pull-through RV sites with many ways to cool off, including a beach-entry swimming pool, a family pool, an indoor pool, splash pads and a 700-foot-long lazy river. Other amenities include an 18-hole miniature golf course, nature trails, pickleball courts and an adults-only infinity spa and sauna. Hunt Brothers pizza and food truck options are also available on site.
Loyd Park in Grand Prairie: Loyd Park is a 791-acre recreation area located in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex on the west shore of Joe Pool Lake, featuring 221 campsites, several lakefront cabins, multiple yurts and an 18-room lodge. Built on a site with large, majestic oak trees just a few steps from Joe Pool Lake, Loyd Park Lodge features a fully furnished kitchen, a covered porch with rocking chairs, a barbecue grill, a fire pit, big-screen TVs and Wi-Fi.
Oakdale RV Resort & Motor Court in Glen Rose: This historic park, which features RV and tent sites as well as rental accommodations, opened in 1925 as a campground and motor court, which were built around the 330,000-gallon Oakdale Plunge, the largest swimming pool in Texas at that time, according to the park’s owners. Oakdale is one of only a handful of private RV parks in the country listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A historic dance hall building with enough tables and chairs to seat up to 400 people is used for family reunions, weddings, quinceañeras, RV rallies, music concerts and dances. Park amenities include a fire pit, an outdoor stage, a grill by the swimming pool and a dog park.

River’s Edge Campground in Johnson City: This scenic 100-acre waterfront Hill Country campground is located along the Pedernales River and offers RV and tent sites as well as furnished themed cabins and covered wagons. Amenities include a resort-style pool, a disc golf course as well as pickleball, basketball and sand volleyball courts. Activities include fishing, swimming, tubing and kayaking on the Pedernales River.
Trader’s Village RV Park in Houston: This big rig-friendly park has level concrete pads and is adjacent to Trader’s Village, which features weekend flea markets, shopping, rides and special events. Park amenities include a swimming pool, restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a recreation hall, an ATM and propane service.
Twin Oaks Resort in Alleyton: Located 60 miles west of Houston, this resort offers serene lakeside fishing, Grand Prix go-kart tracks and dancing under beautiful mature oak trees. Originally a ranch owned by Charlie Thomas, the famed former owner of the Houston Rockets, this 168-acre property has been transformed into an RV resort and event space for weddings, complete with its own dance hall.
