Campgrounds, RV parks and glamping resorts across Texas are encouraging travelers to book their Memorial Day weekend reservations now while campsites, cabins, covered wagons, tipis and furnished safari tents are still available, according to a press release.
“Memorial Day weekend is one of the biggest camping weekends of the year,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners, which hosts travel planning websites at TexasCampgrounds.com and TexasGlampingResorts.com in addition to publishing its annual the annual RV Travel & Camping Guide to Texas, which is available for free in both digital and print formats.
“Growing numbers of Texas campgrounds are also adding glamping accommodations, so you don’t even need a tent or RV to camp,” Schaeffer continued. “Many independently owned and operated campgrounds also provide their guests with a wide range of amenities, from swimming pools and Jacuzzis to fitness centers, fishing ponds, as well as access to rivers and streams that are popular with tubing enthusiasts.”
Here’s a sampling of campgrounds across Texas that have campsites and glamping accommodations available over Memorial Day weekend:
Fredericksburg RV Park in Fredericksburg: The park features all pull-through sites. Amenities include a clubhouse with a modern kitchen suitable for entertaining big groups, a gym and fitness center, a koi pond with water features and ducks, horseshoes, and immaculately clean private bathrooms with showers.
Mystic Quarry in Canyon Lake: This park complements its RV sites with a variety of luxurious glamping units, including furnished cabins, tipis and safari tents. The resort also has tent sites. Amenities include a large swimming pool, a game room, hammocks, a pavilion, a playground and various games, including volleyball, bocce ball and horseshoes. A private hot tub is also available for rent. Streaming quality WiFi and several dog parks are also available.
Pioneer Beach RV Resort in Port Aransas: This park features RV sites and cabins. Amenities include two swimming pools, a hot tub, a recreation hall and game room, a dog run, a birding pond with ducks, spoonbills, and cranes, and a private boardwalk to the beach.
Rio Guadalupe Resort in New Braunfels: This 25-acre park has a quarter mile of frontage along the Guadalupe River. There are 64 RV campsites total, including 46 pull-through spaces. The typical RV site is gravel-lined, 20-25’ wide, and 70-80’ long. Guests enjoy tubing, fishing, or kayaking along the Guadalupe River.
Summer Breeze USA RV Resort in Brookshire: Located just outside Houston, this 33-acre resort with 99 full-hookup RV sites is just 10 minutes west of Katy Mills Mall and the new Katy Convention Center. Amenities include a fitness center, a country store and a state-of-the-art high-speed, fiber optic Wi-Fi system with towers throughout the park. The park’s newest amenities include pickleball courts.
Trader’s Village RV Park in Houston: This big rig-friendly park has level concrete pads and is adjacent to Trader’s Village, which features weekend flea markets, shopping, rides and special events. Park amenities include a swimming pool, restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a recreation hall, an ATM, and propane service.
The Vineyards RV Park in Fredericksburg: This park complements its spacious, big rig-friendly campsites and cabin and covered wagon rentals. Park amenities include an outdoor pavilion with gas and charcoal grills and a fire pit for group gatherings; a swimming pool, Jacuzzi and gym; a playground with a tire swing and rock climbing wall; volleyball, bocce ball and frisbee disc golf; an off-leash dog park with a dog wash station, and valet trash pickup every day.
Schaeffer noted that companies like Malakoff-based Platinum Cottages are supplying Texas campgrounds with fully furnished park-model-style cabins and cottages with separate bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms.
