On a 3-2 vote, the Nelson County (Va.) Board of Supervisors denied a special use permit for a proposed campground on Morse Lane in Arrington, according to the Nelson County Times.
The applicant, Tim Masters, sought to establish a campground on 113 acres zoned for agriculture, A-1, in three phases. The Nelson County Planning Commission voted 4-1 on March 25 to recommend approval with 13 conditions that included no more than 34 campsites, a limit of 10 sites in Phase 3, no open fires or burning and no generators or amplified music, among others.
The first phase would include seven pad sites along Morse Lane with proposed screening along the road and nine pad sites along the interior access road.
The second phase would have 18 pad sites, with all of them in both phases having access to utilities. The third phase would include tent sites only.
