A stretch of rural land near Big Cabin (Okla.) has been transformed into a new tourism destination aimed at drawing more visitors to northeast Oklahoma and boosting local economies, according to FOX 23.
Redbud Tiny Home and RV Resort now sits on what was once 15 acres of open land. The property includes tiny homes, full-hookup RV sites, a pickleball court, a dog park and fishing, among other amenities.
Owner Tony Spandrio said his goal went beyond building a place to stay.
“We’re out here in rural Oklahoma, so there aren’t that many ways of attracting people out here to help all of the communities benefit from that, and so by us developing this, I think that this is huge in helping that tourism develop out here and prosper out here,” Spandrio said.
The resort is located just off Route 66, Highway 44 and Highway 69, placing it along some of the state’s busiest travel corridors. Inside each tiny home, guests receive a welcome book with information on local restaurants, shops and tourist attractions, encouraging them to explore the area and support other small businesses.
Spandrio said he has already seen visitors travel from outside Oklahoma, which he views as a sign that rural tourism can make an impact.
