Residents Voice Traffic Concerns Over Virginia Campground

Virginia Developments 2026

A proposed campground in Page and Rockingham (Virginia) counties has some residents raising concerns over traffic, roadway safety and the potential impact on the surrounding area, according to WHSV.

While some say it could bring more visitors to the area, others worry about what more than 100 campsites could mean for traffic.

A proposed campground development along Naked Creek Road in Page County is raising concerns with those in the area — not only about how it would affect the environment, but also about how the project could affect traffic.

Ken Slack, communications manager for VDOT’s Staunton District, said when a development like this is proposed, VDOT makes sure to complete a proper analysis.

“If a proposed development is expected to add at least 5,000 vehicles a day on the roads, VDOT will require a traffic impact analysis. But even if that’s not the case, which is what we have here in Rockingham and Page counties, the localities can reach out for VDOT’s assistance and require the developer to perform a traffic impact analysis,” he said.
